Majors Plastics offers an extensive variety of injection overmolding services to meet all your product and engineering requirements. When the need arises, our overmold and True Two-shot molding capabilities, allow us to mold multiple materials and colors over specific sections of existing parts. Utilizing TPE’s and TPU’s, molded over rigid materials, we can meet all your product requirements for an impact resistant or soft feel finish.

We can accomplish this through either the two-stage or True Two-shot overmold operations, with a variety of materials to meet all your specifications. True Two-shot Injection molding uses two independent nozzles on one molding press, is an efficient and cost-effective method for molding custom plastic parts with two or more plastic resins or colors in one operation. This single operation enables a reduction in process steps, time, and your product cost.

  • Overmold – Using an existing substrate such as metal or glass.
  • Two Stage Overmold – Using two individual molds. One to create the substrate, and another to overmold the existing substrate.
  • True Two-Shot Overmold – Using one machine with two barrels/nozzles to create the substrate and also create the overmolded part.
  • Plastic Over Plastic – First a rigid plastic substrate is molded. Then another rigid plastic is molded onto or around the substrate. The plastics may differ in color and/or resin.
  • Rubber Over Plastic – First a rigid plastic substrate is molded. Then a soft rubber or TPE is molded onto or around the substrate. This is often used to give a soft grip area to a rigid part.
  • Plastic Over Metal – First a metal substrate is machined, cast or formed. Then, the substrate is inserted into an injection molding tool and the plastic is molded onto or around the metal. This is often used to capture metal components in a plastic part.
  • Rubber Over Metal – First a metal substrate is machined, cast, or formed. Then the substrate is inserted into an injection molding tool and the rubber or TPE is molded onto or around the metal. This is often used to provide a soft grip surface.
